WHOO HOOO! The kidlet just needs better brushing habits. We don't call her "Swiper" for nothing! I don't remember being the way she is at that age. Perhaps like fine wine, memory gets better with age. Or we just make our memories better than they actually should be. Hmmm......TeeTeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13106784882046159944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2956147029990643469.post-78736691607559969652011-03-27T18:33:00.002-04:002011-03-27T18:35:58.859-04:00Kids!My darling daughter is 11. Lord help me make until she is 18! When does the attitude go away? My mom says she'll let me know when she does. lol. Anyway dd has her first cavity and is going to the dentist on Tuesday. Drilling. Yea! I don't know who is dreading it more, me or her. I hate the dentist with a passion but I put on the brave face for her. But this does help with my no candy rule. Now if my mom would just get the memo....TeeTeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13106784882046159944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2956147029990643469.post-74757988647824532512011-03-14T20:04:00.003-04:002011-03-14T20:12:49.707-04:00Fractions<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlc7UwPfhTCq-dGYpuxuK18Afv7gzH4Xnbs7z_3P1FDj0NKWgm4okTs0PT0Wme9MHCJ39ROwXxnQOo9-H-zQf7F5ZPwVt4uODXufMYEWVdUnlWam8H9eLtZBC4dfEj6KNeD84hRrDaUmY/s320/001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584092825738648146" />
My daughter is now in 5th grade. While I love being a homeschooling mom, I really hate fractions. lol. We just got done a 3 month section on fractions. I had to look up how to divide them because I had forgotten! My brain was just about fried from the sheer madness of it all! I had one of those mommy moments where you have to decide to lie to your child or be honest. She asked me "When will I ever use this in my grownup life?" I honestly couldn't come up with an answer for it. So I just went with cooking. I showed her the fractions on the measuring cups and she was satisfied. FOR NOW! On a brighter note, hubby and I went on a grownups only vacation to Luray VA. The picture is from the front of the cabin we rented.TeeTeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13106784882046159944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2956147029990643469.post-70459076162782117672011-01-11T10:15:00.001-05:002011-01-11T10:17:59.861-05:00Simple Black Hat<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM8ldkbOCxrrmHa8x6Z0OLDxFlEN3OaybFvllMqZxvgdakf8JLW4ErHKDEcx3b2Y5QP-nQMWqpD4kDZ1eh6tpJGHC_QVW08WCEJgPcyO6S0BWiyfcb6sn4sMtq2__t4ncLaY3iW6an2OU/s200/050.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5560947871314359010" />
3.5oz Bernat Softee Chunky Black
H hook

Stitches used: ch, sc, hdc, dc, fphdc

FPHDC:

Yarn over, insert hook from the front side of the work right to left around the post of the indicated stitch on a previous row;
yo and pull up a loop (3 lps on hk)
yo and draw through all three lps

ch 1 DOES NOT count a a stitch. Enjoy!

I used RHSS in autumn/fall. Size I hook. Approx 25-30oz yarn.

1.) Chain 202. (I got this number by getting the chain long enough to go from one hand to the other over my shoulders, so feel free to change the number of chains.)

2.) HDC in 3rd ch fr hk & in each ch across. ch 1, turn

3.) HDC dec* in first 2 sts. Hdc in each ch across to last 2 sts, hdc dec in these sts.

Repeat row 3 until it comes to a point.

HDC DEC: yo, insert hk in st, pull up a loop, yo insert hook in next st, pull up a loop. (5 loops on hook) yo & pull thru all 5 lps on hk.

This is a very comfortable shawl. I am able to wrap up in it nicely. The point comes down to the back of my knees (I'm 5'4). This is my first attempt at trying to write down what I've made so I hope that I did it right! I hope you try it, Enjoy!
__________________TeeTeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13106784882046159944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2956147029990643469.post-22327859175988628452010-02-18T13:11:00.003-05:002010-02-18T13:40:48.670-05:00Babe in a basket hat<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIzaUHasatoioZqa4F8C5rj-SyC4pbPUl2ph_EL9epjn7CrX519QLP_5G9yxxORvapGYj6P9jdi7xb2NBKB8g3dpmMQitXcgdfBAdilfJt5ZkVetPFUswLC-bHCwHXvpTMHY5PzwkFbwc/s200/IMG_1063.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5439654309704024690" />
Here is the hat pattern to go along with the Babe in a Basket sleep sack.

H hook

1 1/2 oz bernat softee baby denim marl (or any sport weight/baby yarn)

This should fit a newborn to 3 month size. Mind you, if it ain't square, I ain't sewing it! Needless to say, I'm a much better crocheter than seamstress. I did however, make 2 quilts for my 2 favorite nephews Dylan and JR. Dylan's is the dinosaur one and JR's is the Eagles one. That one killed me as I am a Dallas Cowboys fan, much to my hubby's chagrin! Anywho, they loved them. Especially Dylan who proceeded to become a raptor on the prowl. lol.TeeTeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13106784882046159944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2956147029990643469.post-24682045171126217222010-01-15T12:15:00.002-05:002010-01-15T12:23:02.140-05:00Wedding Ring Afghan DONE!<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcf6QBFuxK64akHDjjTp1nKvgaRJJUvCcbd3Mh_kKpOVPL9jcm40Xshsb0dmMHJCja1J4-lruIT8VXpNX8CrUyyERRt9t4rzvf_gol-d5G8eJwZWcCiifHbGG0DXXshhuQSssKa7ZrM50/s200/IMG_1030.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427018297882140738" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEietTXoHdlaw3bhl6a1Kw2ymGRmeOWaGCOqWzIZA5W2jhHyFwuvCwn0g1iIDv63my_AQrZmiyXlyts0ELtrULWsvJst4pSegj9Y6yLLlY1-3avINvTZZPhZHaoRhOuk2saDer7j4hVzQME/s200/IMG_1029.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427018289794210002" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1lNXTXhuXpOqGhNUKjgeAGFdEDkVaOgTdHLrrPPTW8NFcOkaFaoXY5aqpXJz7TfzTzuQtcGOOLqRHQ6FdTIdWp6izmTmqVV42pNbJEzUgc6w8loPKKAbaPToQi4GWBqUbybYXH8oOhbM/s200/IMG_1028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427018285320730594" />
I finally finished it! It was a pain in the biscuits but it's done. Sewing it together was the easy part. Having to weave in all the ends that I left hanging, worse than long division! lol. I gave it to the intended couple the other day and they were quite tickled. I'm glad it's now out of my to-do pile. Here are a few pics, sorry they are not that bright but you get the gist.TeeTeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13106784882046159944noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2956147029990643469.post-44139905505868705872010-01-07T14:17:00.002-05:002010-01-07T14:20:58.578-05:00I resolve to...finish up some old projects. After having a ton of them fall down on me, I realize I need to get cracking! First up is the wedding ring afghan from red heart. The couple it was intended for have been married for about 10 months now. So if I can get it done, it will be an early anniversary present. All of the pieces are there, I just need to sew them together. Oh what fun this shall be!TeeTeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13106784882046159944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2956147029990643469.post-10002444006793273382009-11-19T12:16:00.002-05:002009-11-19T12:22:02.233-05:00Babe in a basket sleep sack<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS-jq6S_nI1Q8faqZJpmkaXr0I7cJOiP_g7QTWOWKE52pkCaFGrd_oxSXs8k0kuSPMl-I_6ohj813usgOrGpIkdAWQP7znTd5nlXvpo6MAd4wAOT9WghqjUaDB8WVDDZ-5fG7mYxeVEA8/s320/IMG_0973.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405865876275504882" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwyf_4fBfTa3ogV3JDFGhrDxEjzQHnItTE_7DVoY5YrbshrCUIKXTS3TBuwED9bPaOxJ73_ffh7Ckx-Ku1ocwbMJjpQA3SosOPYKDMNjRj3mq4w4KzR4SHfWh_YfYrMuBxvZu6ULGqHF0/s320/IMG_0971.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405865871597639362" />
BABE IN A BASKET sleep sack

5 oz Bernat softee baby yarn (I used baby denim marl)
size I hook

Chain 2 does not count as a stitch.

Round 1. ch 4, join to form a loop, ch 2, 12 dc in loop, join to 1st dc.
