Simple Black Hat
3.5oz Bernat Softee Chunky Black
H hook
Stitches used: ch, sc, hdc, dc, fphdc
FPHDC:
Yarn over, insert hook from the front side of the work right to left around the post of the indicated stitch on a previous row;
yo and pull up a loop (3 lps on hk)
yo and draw through all three lps
ch 1 DOES NOT count a a stitch. I use this so that there is not a "gap" in the beginning of the rounds.
Ch 4, join to form a loop/ring.
Rd 1: ch1, 12 hdc in loop. (12 hdc)
Rd 2: ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around. (24 hdc)
Rd 3: ch 1, 1 hdc in first st, 2 hdc in next. rep around. (36 hdc)
Rd 4: ch 1, 1DC in first 2 sts, 2 DC in next st, rep around. (48 DC)
Rd 5: ch 1, 1 DC in first 3 sts, 2 DC in next st, rep around. (60 DC)
Rd 6: ch 1, HDC in each st around. (60 HDC)
Rd 7: ch 1, SC in each st around. (60 SC)
Rd 8: ch 1, HDC in each st around. (60 HDC)
Rd 9: ch 1, DC in each st around. (60 DC)
Rds 10-16: rep rounds 6-9. (60 sts each round.)
Rds 17-18: ch 1, FPHDC in first st, HDC in next st, rep around. (30 FPHDC, 30 HDC).
Finish off and weave in ends.
I made this pattern up on my own last night. If it resembles any pattern out there, I had no prior knowledge of it and apologize ahead of time. This is a completely original pattern to the best of my knowledge. Feel free to make this pattern, and to sell hats made from it, however, selling of the pattern is not allowed. Enjoy!

I think it's cool. The bottom edge reminds me a little of the knitted ribbing that looks so interesting on hats. Will try this edge on a hat (different pattern) that I've been trying to decide how to finish. Thanks for sharing!
